All perfumes react to our body chemistry, our sweat for example. One perfume can smell differently on various people that is why when you go perfume hunting never try more than 3 at a time or your nose will get confused. Let the perfume settle down and react to your skin (putting it on the inside of your wrist is ideal or the inside of your elbow.). go out and after half an hour smell your wrist again. that's when you get the 'real' smell of the perfume - that is how it's going to smell on you. When 'Poison' was launched it smelt awful on me - really sickly sweet. On my friend it was divine. It's all body chemistry. If you do as I say you won't need samples but it is common practice for any store to give samples of perfume. I mean their aim is to sell. I'm usually swamped with samples.
Change shops till you find one that has really helpful staff. I shop from one perfumery in particular and they've gotten used to me - I even have a discount card.
Oh nd by the way perfume lasts for about a year than it changes composition and consequently it's smell. so don't keep it on the shelf for special occasions - use it.Why does some perfumes smell good in the bottle, but really bitter on me?
It depends on your body chemistry. What smells great on one person won't always work for you too.
Also, they can smell good initially but end up fading into a bad smell later. That's why you should try one at a store and leave it on all day before you buy it.
Neiman Marcus is always good at samples, as is Bloomingdales. NM has gifts with purchase that include tons of samples. I end up giving them as gifts to my eBay buyers.
Also, when you order online at Sephora you can select samples of products to try. Often they have perfume in there.
But I would go into a department store, explain your experience to one of the sales people and see if they'll give you samples to take home. Make sure you get their name or card so that when you DO buy, it's from whoever gave you the samples.
Sometimes it all depends on your skin type. You can get samples at Macys cause at the one near my town if you just walk by the perfume counters they offer samples.
'cause it reacts with the PH of your skin.
That's why you should ALWAYS try a little on, before buying them.
it might just smell bitter to you when it doesnt...or it could be mixing with the soap or lotion you use if you put it on after a shower or something
Fragrance interacts with your skin's natural Ph, and smells different on each individual. It's nothing personal. You just have to keep trying out new fragrances until one smells right with your personal scent.
just use a tester and spray it on and c how it smellS!
I know that Avon gives samples as well as most department stores. You can squirt some on a piece of paper if you want and later apply to your skin. The reason for the change is your personal body chemistry changes the perfume.
Everyone has a different body chemistry and perfume smells different on everyone. They best thing you can do is go to a department store and ask for free samples, most department stores have them...BTW. otherwise just use the testers they have try a new one everyday until you find one you like!
Cause ur bitter/sour. Stop smelling the stuff, it has turned ur nose red.
perfumes work best when you wear it after a shower. never put perfume without taking one. spray one on your earlobes, your pulse, and neck.
it is because everyone of us has different seses of smell that aloow each of us to be indifferent with one another..
you can get samples from the department stores. some give you little viles of the the perfume and others give you a spray of perfume on a piece of paper. all you have to do is ask.
