Could the chemicals in perfumes enter the bloodstream causing harm to a fetus?

This is a research question for a book I am writing on the lifelong affects of prenatal alcohol exposure. I am looking for information on other stimulants which may have similar affects such as perfumes?Could the chemicals in perfumes enter the bloodstream causing harm to a fetus?
Hi Simon,

That is a great topic for a book.

Yes chemicals in perfumes can enter the bloodstream. They are actually absorbed from the skin surface and inhaled through the lungs.

I do not know the names of the chemicals that are involved. For your book, please remember that even perfumes are chemicals.

People who are exposed to chemicals are known to have a grater incidence of Asthma. Nurses get exposed to small doses of patients medications. It is for this reason that many nurses suffer from Asthma.
